yellow lentils 200g
water (or broth) 400 ml
fresh ginger 2 cm
turmeric 0.5 tsp
ground coriander 1 tsp
ground cumin or cumin 0.5 tsp
salt and pepper to taste

Soak the lentils overnight in water, then rinse well. Pour lentils with water or broth, allow to boil and remove the foam with a spoon. Add salt, reduce heat and cook over low heat under a lid until lentils are ready. This will take about 20-25 minutes. Heat in a panĀ 2 tbsp vegetable oil, add ginger. Stew for 1 minute and add the remaining spices. Fry for another minute and then transfer the spices to the lentils. Stir and cook for 5 minutes under a closed lid.
